హిల్ పీపుల్స్ యూనియన్ అనేది మేఘాలయలోని రాజకీయ పార్టీ. ఇది 1985లో స్థాపించబడింది.[1] స్థాపకులు ఆల్ పార్టీ హిల్ లీడర్స్ కాన్ఫరెన్స్, హిల్ స్టేట్ పీపుల్స్ డెమోక్రటిక్ పార్టీ నుండి 11 మంది సభ్యులు, వీరు 1983 మేఘాలయ శాసన సభ ఎన్నికలలో 31 సీట్లు గెలుచుకున్న రెండు పార్టీలచే ఏర్పాటు చేయబడిన అంతకుముందు స్వల్పకాలిక సంకీర్ణ ప్రభుత్వం పతనం తర్వాత కలిసి చేరారు.[2] ఇది ఒకప్పుడు రాష్ట్రంలోని "మూడు ప్రధాన ప్రాంతీయ పార్టీలలో ఒకటి".[3] 1988 ఎన్నికలలో, బ్రింగ్టన్ బుహై లింగ్డో నాయకత్వంలో, పార్టీ మేఘాలయ శాసనసభలో 19 స్థానాలను గెలుచుకుంది.[1][4] 1993 ఎన్నికల్లో పదకొండు సీట్లకు పడిపోయింది.[5] 1997లో దాని సభ్యులు యునైటెడ్ డెమోక్రటిక్ పార్టీని స్థాపించడానికి హిల్ స్టేట్ పీపుల్స్ డెమోక్రటిక్ పార్టీ, పబ్లిక్ డిమాండ్స్ ఇంప్లిమెంటేషన్ కన్వెన్షన్‌తో చేరారు. The three major regional parties in Meghalaya — the Hill People's Union, the Hill State People's Democratic Party and the Public Demands Implementation Convention — formed the Regional Democratic Front before the Lok Sabha elections and parliamentary elections in November 1989.
