Sri Kotikalapudi Kurmanadham

Sri Kotikalapudi Kurmanadham (1930-2015) is a poet in English and lyric writer in Telugu, who hails from Vizianagaram town, born on 18th Jan, 1930. His father, Sri Kotikalapudi Sambamurthy garu B.A. B.L , served as the Land Revenue Supervisor in Vizianagaram Estate. His ancestors were the court poets and pandits of Bobbili kingdom. Sri Kurmanadham worked as a lecturer in English in Maharaja College, Vizianagaram from 1962 to 1990. He got married to Smt Mangatayaru (HOD Political Science, in MR college for Women), in 1974. He passed away on 30th May, 2015, in his residence in Vizianagaram.

Due to his great interest in Telugu literature and classical music, he started writing songs and poetry during his college days. He worked in Madras for some time where he was acquainted with Sri Devulapalli Krishnasatry, Sri saluri Rajeswararao, Sri Balantrapu Rajanikantharao and with Sri Ghantasala. With the great encouragement from his family and friends, he published 17 books in both English and Telugu.

Awards and Achievements:

He received the titles of ‘Kavi Kovida’ and ‘Kavitha Visarada’. His name and his works are listed in the book named “Who Is Who of Indian Writers”

"Sri Rama Pattabhishekam", Ramayana written by him in a single song, was released as an LP record by Columbia, which was composed by Sri K Rangarao garu and sung by Sri SP Balasubramanyam garu.

His songs on Lord Krishna were sure by Smt S.Janaki and released as an audio cassette(Brundavanam lo Krishnayya) by Sangeetha music
